![]() "However, the consequences of the fire could have been far worse. Sergeant Jonathan Wilson, of Ellesmere Port Local Policing Unit, said: “The blaze, which a fire investigator has confirmed was started deliberately, caused significant damage to a section of the building. Literally anything other than this game.A fire engine in neighbouring Cromwell Road tackling a blaze at the rear of the former Agrafort restaurant in Ellesmere PortĪ senior firefighter at the scene confirmed it was started deliberately using waste materials at the rear of the building.Įnquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers want to trace the man in the CCTV image as they believe he may be able to help their investigation. If you want similar games that are possibly worth your money try Empyrion, Avorian or Space Engineers. But you're just pissing your money down the drain at this point spending cash on StarMade. And if it is anything else it's usually half baked, barely tested and breaks the game even more.īut hey, you can essentially play the 'full' game for free via the Demo so try it for yourself. If you like 4X games, well this is barely a 1X.īuild ships then do nothing with them except mine or maybe shoot some stupid AI once you manage to get systems actually working.Įvery 10 years when the devs do release something it's mostly just rebalanacing the games 'systems' and sweet ♥♥♥♥ all else. Literally only good for using as a virtual lego sandbox. (Not unless it goes open source as I've seen discussed.) There are 100's of other games I would recommend instead of this in development hell, basically dead, game. I've abandoned Starmade about 4 years ago, and after all that time, today, I do not see any significant improvements made. Avorion is already more than playable, and little can be done to spoil it. None of the developers (if they actually still even do anything) have any idea how to make a playable game, and instead they keep building the castle on quicksand. ![]() ![]() Priorities and decisions are all over the place - as the game has become more complex and flourishing with possibilities, its core aspects like performance and accessibility are below Hell. Starmade wants to be large-scale, but also wants the player to be an individual in it, which is why it cannot feasibly achieve either. Its building model is much better suited for the scale the game follows. Avorion reaches a good balance between being able to build ships and stations that look and operate as you want and actually using them. It is not as intricate and flexible as From the Depths, and yet is is about as unhandy. It has building aspect that allows an enormous amount of freedom, but that also leads to you spending all your time building stuff instead of playing the game. Avorion is also built on custom engine, yet it is well optimized and allows for pleasant gameplay. Optimization and preformance is horrible. It has derelict Java-based engine, similar to Minecraft, but barely managing what the 3D-space asks from it. Avorion has a story of sorts, which you can progress through as you see fit. It has no narrative, meaning everything you do is for the same of doing it, nothing else. Starmade combines several critical flaws typical for other similar games: Personally, I'd recommend avoiding this entirely and getting Avorion instead. I'll stop writing a novel now, but as falco708 said, the full game is included within the demo for free - only purchase StarMade if you want to support the dev team (which, from what I've heard, isn't quite as active as they used to be). You can build Space Station, and star ships - you can build things with logic (as the StarMade logic system was pretty fun and fleshed out), and there is a broad base of building blocks to make all sorts of shapes and designs. Not quite to the level of X3/X4 either.īut, I did enjoy the building aspect of StarMade - you can take a whole planet, and start building to your content. It more centered around build a big ship, which huge guns and shields, and try and plow through the Pirate's space stations and loot them. Regarding combat, I dropped off of playing StarMade back right around the time that they started adding in the couple other factions, so I can't speak much to how PVE works in the game now, but when I was playing, PVE was pretty basic. There is a rough sort of economy in StarMade, but nothing near the scope of X3/X4. So, I would more compare StarMade to Avorion, then to X3/X4. I've played 1,200 hrs of X3, a pretty decent amount of time in X4, and have played StarMade back a few years ago and put a good bit of time into it.Īs falco708 said above, StarMade is more about building ships, stations, and building logic and systems.
